We promised you something cool today, and here it is! We are happy to unveil our brand new logo, courtesy of MOON RING Design, which we will be using going forward.
Today is the 20th anniversary of the founding of Immortal Sÿnn - September 15th, 2004. Since the revival of the band in the summer of 2012, we have been steadily moving up in the world, and, to continue that momentum, we decided to simplify things a bit!
While we love our logo that we have been using for the last decade, it was always more expensive and sometimes a struggle to incorporate it into merch items because of all the colors on Sammi. We also felt that it was too busy at times and a bit nondescript in ways of genre. With this new logo, it is more streamlined, can easily be changed to a single color of our choosing, and fits perfectly into our genre of NWOTHM! Sammi is still a very prominent part - slithering off the Ÿ and taking her new spot as the 'S'.
The band has been through quite a number of name changes since its inception, but Immortal Sÿnn was always the most impactful, and was chosen as our permanent moniker shortly after the 2012 revival. To celebrate 20 years, here is a look back at some of our old logos from 2005 - 2024. Not every iteration of the band had a logo (i.e. Defender, Blind Soul, Majesty, Midnight Rose, etc.).
I'm also including the full, unedited text from a paper I wrote Junior year of high school, dated October 10, 2004. I believe this was written for Theology class, and the assignment was to write about a defining moment in our lives. I decided to write about when I formed the band. I hope you all will enjoy this blast from the past!
In addition to the goodies in this post, I also want to give everyone 20% of your entire order at our merch shop, The Sÿnn Store. Just use discount code '20YEARS' at checkout! Limit one per customer - good through the month of September BE ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE TO OWN A SHIRT WITH OUR NEW LOGO!!!
We appreciate you all, and we are glad to have you accompanying us on our musical journey :-)

DEFINING MOMENT IN MY LIFE
9/10/04 - Regis Jesuit High School - Aurora, CO
For me, the most defining moment in my life was when I started my band called Lucid Confusion. The day was September 15, 2004. The time was about 3:15 pm. This is the point when an important part of TZR’s (me) history began.
I was walking down the path connecting the boys division to the girls division at Regis with a friend of mine. He handed me a piece of paper with a bunch of names on them. The only one I can remember at the moment was Lucid Confusion, which would soon become the name of my band. I asked him what the paper was for, and he told me it was a list of possible names for his band. At the time, I didn’t know that he was even in a band. He explained to me that he was in a punk band with three friends of his, but wished he wasn’t because it was a punk band. The only reason, he told me, why he was in it was because of his desire to be in a band. Now, at this point I started thinking that maybe he could begin a band with me since I had been wanting to form one quite a while, but had difficulty finding any members. This is when the gods of Rock descended their power to the both of us. At that moment, my friend turned to me and said, “If only you played guitar or something we could start a band.” I turned back to him and told him he was in luck, for I did play the guitar.
The next day we decided on the band name Lucid Confusion, a name partially influenced by the 80's Hair Metal band, Quiet Riot.
The same day, we, as founding members of the band, set out to find the other musicians who would complete Lucid Confusion. We roamed the hallways of Regis Jesuit looking for anybody who looked like they played an instrument of some type, but to no avail. We searched long and hard for many countless lunches and office hours after that until we finally found our bassist. After that, we had virtually no problem finding the other members. We rounded up a second and a third guitarist. Lucid Confusion was now five members, but we all had one problem - no drummer.
At this point, we started to get pretty frustrated, we had worked our butts off trying to find the other members, but still were in need of one of the most essential persons to any band of our style. We set out on a mission to the girls school this time, which was an even bigger failure than searching the boys school. It seems that not many girls, for some reason at the girls division play instruments. And not many seemed to even like our band’s genre. We discovered that the majority listen to that vile, putrid, dreadful, disgusting cacophony, garbage known as rap and hip-hop. How people can stand to listen that trash is beyond me, but let’s get back to the point at hand - we found no drummer at the girl’s school, it was a complete waste of time. Things took a turn for the better though when we came across a kid who is now our current drummer on the walk back from the girls school.
We soon had our first band meeting with only four of the members present. Where the other two were, well, that’s a story for another day.
Lucid Confusion is a hard rock/metal band consisting of three guitarists, a vocalist, a bassist, and a drummer. It’s influences include such greats as AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Twisted Sister, A Perfect Circle, Mötley Crüe, Van Halen, Nirvana, and Quiet Riot, along with a plethora of others. The band does many cover songs along with a current triumvirate of originals. We plan to play at Regis’s Raiderfest, and the next Raiderpalooza. Where Lucid Confusion will go after that, only the future will tell...
